The recap!

Hello there,

So, as many of you know I have been offered a job with Carbon Air! (Water filtration systems on a large scale). They have hired me on as their marketing person, which means I am the one who will get to play with the SEO and the social media for the company! A dream job come true for me :)!

Let me fill you in on where I am now! On January 4th, I flew out to Minneapolis to meet the wonderful staff of Carbon Air (Oh Yes, and interview for the position) I was told I was hire by Tom Fitzgerald (CEO/ Owner) on Thursday the 5th, and he wanted me to start on the first of February.

It was not until Friday morning, on my 6 AM flight, that I realized that I had two weeks (yes, two weeks) to get my life packed, and moved to Minneapolis. As I sat there on the plane, I was creating list after list, of how this was all going to work. By the time I landed in Denver, I was running a thousand. *Please note that, when I am running this fast this early, it is bad for anyone around me, including my poor parents.  Mind you, that they got a call from me around 8, telling them what I need to do before I left. (Maybe it was not the best thing to talk about first thing in the mourning, but we all made it through it.)

Before my 8:45 plane ride back to Bozeman, I had told my landlord that I was moving, started the house hunting process for the new person, who would take over my position as property manager, and called Jules from the bookstore for a ton of really good moving boxes. Who wants to pay for moving boxes anyways?

When I finally landed in Bozeman, and made it home I decided it was time for a nap before the race was on.

My last two weeks, in the place that I have called home for last three years (22 if you count West as part of Bozeman), went so quickly. I spent most of my time not packing, and saying my goodbyes to the people I would miss.

Yes, about a week before I was to leave the idea of packing really hit. So, like a bat out of hell, I was shoving stuff together.  I realized it would be cheaper to move all my stuff in a U Pack (back of a semi truck), than to try to deal with one of those wonderful U-Haul trailers.

Wednesday, the day of loading the trailer, rolled around quicker than I would of thought. Guess my judgement of time was a little off this time. If it was not for the wonderful help of my mother, I am not sure I would be ready to go, even today! :)  With a few minor yelling matches, we manage to survive this wonderful experience. (I recommend everyone I know, to have their fun at moving all of their stuff across the country. I will say it is the best time you could ever have.)

So, let me tell you about this semi...... (No, I did not fill the whole thing, just a space of 5 feet x 8 feet x 6.5 feet high.) When I talked with the person on the phone, he recommended me to make sure I secured my stuff with rope..... :) OH I DID! I had all my stuff wrapped in 200 Feet of rope. By the end of it, my stuff looked like a spider web, but I knew it was not be going anywhere. Even if the driver decided to drive it off a cliff in the Grand Canyons!

On Thursday, I spent the day hanging out with my mom. We went to all of the pawnshops and second hand stores in Bozeman. My mom even found me a pair of cowboy boots. (Don’t tell her, I really like them, cause she will tell me the classic mother line, of I told you so.) During this day, I also managed to capture a few photos like the ones below.

? Hmmm!!!

After she left, I was to go home, finish packing, and clean. Yes, I did do this, but maybe not as quick, as I should have. I will be the first to admit; I am still learning these things. Anyways, after most of my procrastination, I wanted to say goodbye to two of my closest friends, Onur and David.

We met up at Audrey's Pizza(best gluten free pizzas in Bozeman that does not include an arm and a leg in the price tag) The three of us spent a large amount of the time there, laughing at the type of conversation that only makes you laugh if you were there. For example, the Muslim Pig.

After dinner we went back to the apt to have a glass of wine, and pack my car (Yes, I did take full advantage of two strong guys.) Here again, is another time that my sense of judgment failed me. I thought I would just have a few things in the car, and I would be able to see out my back end of my car. WRONG!!!!!!!!! (I truly believe that my stuff multiplied while we were out to dinner.) Anyways, we finally got it pack, and it was time for wine.

Oh wait, the wine opener was in my car packed deep in some box. After pondering the options, I allowed my engineer friend, David, to put his degree to work. Yes, we did get it open, only it was with a turkey fork, but good news, Onur learned the concept of why winos spit wine out after sampling it. :) As the bystander, it was a great way to end the night.

Then there was Friday......... Moving day. After saying my teary goodbyes to the best roommate ever, I was off, only four hours late, but I was off.

........ Driving............................ Driving........................... Driving...................and some more Driving................ Driving....................

About 11 PM, I decided to find a spot to sleep. Thank you Robin for your help. Let's just say the hotel lacked a little more than it should of, but it must of been a hoot watching me make 6 trips out to the car to get my beloved plants. (No, I am not crazy, I just love my plants!!!)

Early the next day I was off for the last part of the trip. I stopped in Fargo to meet Sheri for the first time, (the woman who I was property managing for) it was wonderful talking with her. (She told me that her daughter was in Minneapolis, and could help me out.)

I finally pulled in to my new city around 2 PM. I checked out a house. (Yeah..... let's just say hmm...)
So, with the two hours of sleep I had from the night before I was ready to call it a night. I booked a hotel on my phone, and attempted my luck at finding my way.  I only got lost about ten times (well, kind of.) There is a little thing that is called no left turns between the hours of 4-6. This is when I really got to know my co-pilot, the navigator on my phone. Shall we say, we had a very deep conversation about how her rerouting was not helping me out.

After a long day, I finally made it to my hotel, Red Roof Inn Minneapolis - Plymouth,
where I was greeted with a wonderful desk clerk Corinne. She was so helpful, and over the next, few days I got to know her really well.

So, the next few days I spent house hunting. I never thought it would be so hard. I finally decided to live on my own. After the help of Brittany (Sheri’s daughter) I found the place on Wednesday. Well, it was a debate between two places. The super cute place and the not so cute place with more features.

After the help of my dad, who knocking some sense back in me, I went for the not so cute place. It had off street parking, great location, cheaper, bigger amount of area, and a new kitchen, new flooring, and was located on the second floor. (Cute place= closer to the lake, no off street parking, no AC, SMALL KITCHEN, and on the third floor. (Mind you, there are no elevators in that building.)

I won't bore you with some of the minor details of moving in, but I will tell you about the story of paying my deposit.

The company I am renting from will only take a local check, or cash for the deposit. Who has 500 dollars in cash on them? So, I being so out of it, decided to walk to the atm, which was 2 blocks away. DUMB YES I KNOW, but don't worry nothing happened to me other than looking like  I was buying drugs. My ATM card would only allow me to take out small amounts at a time, and would lock after I made two transactions. So, I had the wonderful pleasure of walking around the gas station, and walking back to the ATM every few minutes. Oh, who could forget the $400 limit? So, I had to use my old bank to get the rest of the money out. At this point, I was freaked; anyone that had been watching me for the last 1/2 hour knew I had a lot of cash on me. So I went into the bathroom, and stuffed the money in about 4 different pockets to make me feel safer as I ventured back to the rental office.  Yes, I made it safely back to the rental office untouched, but looked like the biggest freak pulling wads of money out of four pockets.

Anyways, I got my key on Thursday, and spent my first night in my new apt. I had the semi schedule for Friday. (Which I unloaded all of it by myself, but the bed, dresser, and desk. Corinne's boyfriend helped me with those items.)

After being so tired that I could fall over, I had to get ready for the company holiday party. I made the party just in time, and had a wonderful night with my new co-workers. I was so happy that I was able to make it. It gave me a chance to really meet the people who I would be working with, but let me tell you I was so glad to see my bed at the end of the night. I think it took me a total of 10 seconds to fall asleep.

And than there was the Unpacking..............YUCK>>>>>>>>>>>YUCK

I had to break up this wonderful experience of unpacking with a little exploration. I found a killer coffee shop, read the Onion, and traveled the world through the different ethnic grocery stores, located down the street. Oh yes, and the fun of cooking in my new kitchen.
Check out that coffee!

Look at the foam on that!

Like my new table?

My creation... Sage roasted chicken with garlic mashed carrots, serve with a side of rice

And than there was more Unpacking..............YUCK>>>>>>>>>>>YUCK

New office

That my friends brings us up to yesterday (Monday the 30th). Where I ventured out to work to see how long it would take me to get to work. (Not BAD I WILL SAY) Oh, who could forget my trip to Wally-World for the massive amount of stuff I needed for my new place. (Things like shower curtains, shelves, toilet brush, garbage pales, and the list goes on and on.) I also decided to clean part of my car. (The other part will happen as soon as I can find a vacuum.) This is something that needed to be done for about two years now, but I have not gotten around to it:). (I really cleaned my car)

ANd it is clean, well for the most part

So, this brings us to the adventures of today. Finding the gym (drove past it two times, looks like I am getting better) I found out that if I go 12 times a month I get a cheaper rate ( $20 rebate from my health insurance) (WOOP WOOP) My next adventure for the day..... finding a steamer (mine died last night).  This my friends, is located at a Target. Not something that you would think would be that hard to find right? Wrong... ( Target's headquarter are here. This means everything including baseball fields are named after target. ) Two hours later I found my new steamer, and I was on my way home. When I got home I made myself a latte. ( Check out the foam, it had 5 inches of Foam)
Now it is time for me to continue on my goal of creating killer dinners on a college budget, and steaming my mile high stack of clothes. Wish me luck! I will post photos later tonight.
